Defying conventional beauty standards, Aria Loca is a social media influencer who champions body positivity by showcasing her unapologetic embrace of her natural hairiness.

“I observed other women proudly displaying their body hair, and it struck me as rebellious and empowering. Many of us don’t realize we’ve been conditioned from birth to conform to societal ideals,” explains Loca, 34. “Images of women with smooth, hair-free skin saturate media platforms, reinforcing the belief that this is the epitome of femininity.”

Displaying her hairy armpits and legs with pride, Loca abandoned her shaving routine at the age of 21, drawing inspiration from Patti Smith’s iconic “Easter” album cover, featuring the singer sporting unshaven armpits.

Letting it all grow out

Loca reveals that her friends often express admiration for her confidence and express a desire to embrace their own natural hair growth.

She shares, “Some friends have confided in me, expressing their wish to abandon shaving like I have, but they fear the judgment of others.”

Facing criticism is nothing new to Loca, who encounters mixed reactions on social media as she challenges prevailing perceptions of natural femininity.

“Hey girl, your legs are so hairy! Look at all that hair—yuck! Please shave,” comments one user.

Adding his perspective, another remarks, “Good for her, as long as she doesn’t start playing the victim card online or questioning why straight men aren’t attracted to her. If it makes her feel good, then fine, although she may attract extra attention. But is that really the kind of attention she wants?”

However, Loca remains undeterred by negativity.

“Negative comments are par for the course online. Haters will always exist, but I don’t dwell on their opinions,” she asserts. “I see myself as a beacon of awareness, hoping to shift perspectives, just as mine was altered.”

Despite the bewilderment her body hair may elicit in some, Loca has garnered a sizable following and receives frequent compliments from admirers, particularly men who appreciate her naturalness.

“Absolutely stunning, a natural goddess,” raves one fan. “So lovely and beautifully hairy,” echoes another.

Reflecting on her devoted followers, Loca, an electrician by trade, remarks, “I now receive daily messages from men expressing their adoration for women with hairy legs and armpits.”

However, the adoration she receives online doesn’t always translate to real-life encounters.

“I was once in a relationship with someone who wasn’t accepting of my choice. I shaved to please them, but I wouldn’t compromise now,” Loca shares. “If someone can’t fully embrace me, then they’re not the right match, and I’m not for them.”

She concludes, “We’re all uniquely beautiful, and if women weren’t meant to have body hair, we wouldn’t have it. Embracing my body hair is my way of celebrating my womanhood.”
